Members of the family of Paula and Ellis Bashford had the honour of being the first to sit on the bench. They later gathered with the craftsman, Beat Ulrich, pictured at left, around the large bench. The family of Paula and Ellis - Mike Bashford, Carla and Wayne Pilatzke and Cara Pilatzke - join him. Overlooking the bandshell, it has a prime spot in Centennial Park and the dedication was attended by many extended family members and friends.

Eganville – There was beauty and sadness as a bench was unveiled in Centennial Park to honour the memory of Paula (Pilatzke) Bashford and her son, Ellis, who were killed exactly a year before in an automobile accident.
