Pembroke – The Royal Bank was robbed around 4:30 on Tuesday afternoon, as the Leader was going to press.

One subject fled on foot and police were immediately in pursuit.

The Royal Bank is in the downtown corridor, right across from the Bank of Montreal and at a busy intersection down from the Pembroke Public Library. The suspect fled in the direction of Church Street. The suspect was dressed in a dark hat and a “camo” coat. The suspect had light coloured facial hair. Initial reports stated the suspect was wearing black shoes, black pants and a shirt tied around the waist.

Reports were that the suspect claimed to have a gun, although there were no initial reports a gun was actually seen. This was not confirmed by press time. Reportedly a small amount of cash was taken.

More information will be in the Leader next week.
