Lake Clear –The search for a missing kayaker in Lake Clear came to an end Tuesday afternoon about 5 o’clock when the Ontario Provincial Police Underwater Search and Recovery Unit located the body of 54-year-old Joseph Palluq.
His body was found in the area where his overturned and partially submerged kayak was located Saturday morning by Orval and Vivian Rosien who were at their cottage on Sandy Beach.
Mr. Palluq, who had lived at Lake Clear for the last five years with his common-law spouse, Roberta Della Picca, had gone for a kayak paddle Friday night at about 9 o’clock.
Nr. Palluq was originally from Iglooick, Nunavut and he and Ms. Della Picca met in Ottawa about 20 years ago. He was a well known soapstone artist.
See Wednesday’s Eganville Leader for complete details of the search and more about Mr. Palluq.
