Petawawa – A two-vehicle crash early Monday morning has claimed the life of a 27-year-old resident of Petawawa.
Members of the Upper Ottawa Valley detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the Petawawa Fire Department, and County of Renfrew paramedics responded to the accident between a passenger vehicle and tractor trailer that occurred around 6:30 a.m. on Highway 17, near the intersection of Doran Road.
The passenger vehicle was eastbound on Hwy. 17 when it collided with the westbound tractor trailer. The 27-year-old operator of the passenger vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver and a passenger in the tractor trailer were not injured.
As a result of the investigation, Hwy. 17 was closed for approximately 12 hours between Black Bay Road and Doran Road.
The investigation is continuing with the assistance of an OPP Collision Reconstructionist and Technical Collision Investigators.
Charges are not anticipated at this time.
The OPP no longer releases the identity of individuals involved in fatal accidents.
