Man Sentenced To Five Years For Impaired Crash That Killed Renfrew Couple

Almost four years after a crash that killed Joan and Doug Foster of Renfrew, John Anstie was sentenced to five-year years in jail for impaired driving and criminal negligence in relation to the December 2016 fatal collision. The couple were returning home from Ottawa when Mr. Anstie slammed into their vehicle on the March Road overpass near Highway 417. Mr. Anstie, who was found guilty of both charges in July 2019, had a large amount of fentanyl and Xanax in his system at the time of the crash. He was sentenced today by Ontario Superior Court Justice Anne London-Weinstein. Full details in next week’s Eganville Leader.
