Marianhill Experiences First COVID Outbreak
1025
Marianhill, Pembroke’s most established long-term care facility, is experiencing its first COVID outbreak since the start of the pandemic last spring.
The single current case involves a staff member who has tested positive as a result of asymptomatic surveillance testing.
As of September 28, all staff and visitors to Marianhill have undergone testing as a precaution to protect everyone associated with the facility and to help reduce spread within the community.
“Thankfully, the staff member has had no high risk exposure or contact with any Marianhill staff or resident,” says CEO Linda Tracey. “We’ve been so fortunate up until now, but this setback serves to remind us that we can’t let down our guard.”
Ms. Tracey adds that Marianhill staff are working very hard to maintain a safe environment for everyone.
“As a result of this outbreak we’re increasing our cleaning protocols and maintaining heightened processes and protocols relevant to resident visits,” Ms. Tracey added. “We’ve informed all our families, and will continue to provide timely updates.”
