Killaloe – The Killaloe Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a death on the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation at Golden Lake which occurred Monday night.

There were unconfirmed reports a man in his 60s was stabbed at his residence and a female was taken into custody.

Officers were called to a residence on Kagagimin Inamo shortly after 7 p.m. where one person was located deceased.

While the cause of death has not yet be confirmed, investigators believe there is no imminent threat to public safety.

The investigation is being conducted by the Renfrew County Crime Unit, OPP Forensic Identification Services, members of the Killaloe Detachment, under the direction of the Criminal Investigation Branch, with assistance from the OPP Provincial Liaison Team and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

The investigation is in its early stages and no further details can be released at this time. Residents of the area should expect to see a large police presence in the area while the investigation continues.
