Ottawa Valley hotel owners pull out of Tourist Association to protest a new hotel tax

A group of local hotel owners came together in Pembroke last week and officially resigned from the Ottawa Valley Tourist Association (OVTA) to protest what they contend is false and misleading statements made by OVTA staff during delegations to several local elected councils regarding a new proposed Accommodation Tax. If the tax is adopted, it would require hotels/motels, bed & breakfasts, and Airbnbs to collect an additional 4 percent from their guests.
