The Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) in collaboration with the Renfrew County District School Board (RCDSB), is confirming that one staff member linked to three schools — Opeongo High School, Madawaska Valley District High School, and Sherwood Public School — has a positive laboratory-confirmed case of novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19).

All students and staff who have been deemed to be a close contact of the positive case, have been given direction to go home immediately to self-isolate and arrange for testing. The schools remain open to in-person learning for all other students and staff.

RCDHU is working closely with the RCDSB to ensure necessary measures continue to be in place to protect all staff, students and the public. RCDHU staff is actively investigating the case and all high risk contacts will be contacted by RCDHU for further instructions.
