RCDHU Reports New Case of COVID-19


The Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) confirmed Thursday night one more positive laboratory-confirmed case of novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) in Renfrew County associated with community spread.
The health unit issued an advisory after confirmation that a person who tested positive for COVID-19 visited Walmart in Pembroke on Monday, June 22 between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and Shopper’s Drug Mart in Petawawa) on Wednesday, June 24 between 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. If you visited either of these locations during these times, the health unit is asking you to self-monitor for symptoms.
If you develop symptoms, immediately self-isolate and contact Renfrew County Virtual Triage Assessment Centre (RCVTAC) at 1-844-727-6404 or RCDHU at 613-735-8654 or 1-800-267-1097 to arrange for testing. If you do not have symptoms and are concerned about exposure check the COVID-19 Testing Schedule to visit a testing site near you. All necessary precautions are being followed to ensure the safety of the public.
The health unit is conducting case and contact management with appropriate individuals and organizations. All affected parties will receive specific instructions on self-isolation and self-monitoring based on exposure.
“As we continue to re-open the province, I cannot stress enough that it is everyone’s responsibility to practice physical distancing and if you cannot observe the two-metre rule, wear a mask,” Dr. Robert Cushman, Acting Medical Officer of Health said.
Renfrew County is now reporting 26 cases of COVID-19 with one death and two people in recovery.
