Renfrew’s chief resigns to take same position in St. Thomas

The town will soon be looking for a new fire chief with the announcement by Kevin Welsh he will be leaving next month to assume the same position in St. Thomas.Chief Welsh came into his current role in January 2019 after former chief, Guy Longtin was suddenly terminated from the job he held for 28 years because of his age. He was 61 and was relieved of his duties less than four hours after the council passed a by-law making it mandatory for firefighters to retire at age 60.
