The Eganville Leader staff is thrilled with receiving six awards in the Ontario Community Newspaper Association annual competition. With four first place awards – for general excellence, news series (2019 flooding), editorial, and special edition (Irish Issue) – and two second place awards – for rural story and best front page – as well as two honorable mentions – for our columnist Johanna Zomers and a grip and grin photo, we are humbled and honoured to be recognized by our peers.

Our own Leader Publisher Gerald Tracey received the Mary Knowles Award recognizing both his dedication to community journalism and involvement in the community where he continues to make a difference through numerous volunteer projects. Congrats Gerald!

Congratulations also go out to other Valley papers. The Valley Gazette for six awards, the North Renfrew Times, Arnprior Chronicle Guide and Renfrew Mercury for one award each.
