It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Alex Leonard Smith on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at Marianhill Long Term Care after a long battle with dementia.
Beloved husband of Carolyn Smith (nee Levean) for 66 years. Dear father of Brenda Smeltzer (Michael). Proud grandpa of Alyssa Smeltzer and great grandpa of Michael Smeltzer Kretzmer. Alex is predeceased by his brother, Lorne Smith, his nephew, Robert Smith, and his parents, Albert and Willemina Smith. He is survived by his sisters in law, Elma Smith and Shirley MacDonald, his nieces, Vicky Yakubuski (John), Rose Verch (Allan), Marly Grant (Gord), Wanda MacDonald, and Sheila Gauthier (Jim), and his nephews, Gary Schmidt (Kim) and Steve MacDonald (Marjorie).
The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff at Marianhill for their care of Alex.
Professional arrangements entrusted to Zohr Family Funeral Home, Eganville. Visitation was held on Monday, November 13, 2023 from 11 am to 12:45 pm. A Funeral Service was held at Grace Lutheran Church at 1 pm followed by burial at Grace Lutheran Cemetery. If so desired, memorial donations may be made to Valley Animal Rescue or the Grace Lutheran Church.
