After a life filled with love, laughter and an endless capacity to care for others, Barbara Ann Pineau passed peacefully on June 2nd, 2025, under the compassionate care of McCulloch Hospice, surrounded by the family she cherished most.
Barbara was a devoted wife for 53 years to her best friend and husband, David Joseph Pineau, who continues to carry her love and memory forward. Together, they walked through every high and low with love, humor and a shared deck of cards (which she usually won). They built a million-dollar family rooted in loyalty, laughter and more than a few good meals.
She was a devoted mother to her beloved daughters, Stacey and Crystal, both of whom brought her great joy—and two very handsome sons-in-law, Shawn and Corey (Barb’s words). Through them, Barbara was blessed with her greatest treasures: her four grandchildren, Liam, Lylia, Cash and Charley. Each grandchild brought their own unique sparkle to her life.
Barbara was predeceased by her loving parents, August and Anastasia Etmanskie. She leaves behind her cherished siblings: Donald (Patricia), Elenor (late Ambrose), Elizabeth (late Bernard), Mabel and Stasia (Denis)—each carrying a lifetime of shared memories, laughter and unconditional love. Welcoming her into heaven with open arms are her siblings, Edward, Benny, Evelyn, Elmer and Catherine.
Barbara leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews and Godchildren, each of whom she held close to her heart. She took great joy in being part of their lives and every one of them had a uniquely special place in her heart.
Her faith was at the heart of everything she did. She was an active member of St. John’s Catholic Church and the Catholic Women’s League. Barbara’s service to others, her love for God and her dedication to her church community were a testament to her spiritual devotion.
Barbara had a way of making everyone feel like family—whether you knew her for five minutes or fifty years. Her warmth, humor, practical jokes and fierce love for others left a mark on every room she entered and every table she sat at. You could always count on two things with Barb: you were fed and you were loved.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who stood by her side in her final days and for the immense support she received throughout her journey.
Barbara chose to be cremated. A funeral Mass will be held at St. John’s Catholic Church on August 2nd, 2025, at 11 a.m. Immediately following, a celebration of her life will take place at the Caruso Club, 385 Haig Street. This gathering will be filled with laughter, stories and second helpings—just the way she wanted it. Her only real request: that everyone be well- fed, well-loved and share a good story or two.
In true Barb fashion, her wishes were simple: no flowers, no fancy clothes. Come as you are—but come hungry and come with love. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Garson Food Bank or McCulloch Hospice—two places close to her heart. If you have any photos you would like to share, please send them to stazia93@hotmail.com or pineauc@hotmail.com. We’d love to help tell the story of the incredible life she lived.
