Beatrice Wilson passed away peacefully on Monday, July 17th, 2023, at Hospice Renfrew with family by her side, in her 94th year.
Beatrice was rich in life as she enjoyed and loved people and people enjoyed and loved her. Beatrice Mary Wilson (Rathwell) of Renfrew was the daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (nee Malette) Rathwell. Beloved wife of the late Ira Wilson for 49 years. Best friend of the late Gerald Godda. Loving and cherished mother of the late Ronnie Wilson (Louise), Brenda, Ila (late Pat Murphy), Barrie (Beverly) and Nancy (late Fern Martin). Proud grandmother of Susie (Chris), Terry (Alissa), Christina (Dave), Christie (Shaun), Tracey (Lee), Curtis (Jessica), Ryan, Stephanie (Glynn), Tara (Andrew), Melanie (Rob) and Amanda. Great grandmother of Keegan, D’Arcy, Jackson, Abby, Lila, Aubrey, Ethan, Lorelai, Drew, Nate, Kohl, Vivie, Cheyenne, Deacon, Glynnie, Jack, Elliott, August, Beatrice, Oliver, Everlee and Russell. She will be so dearly missed by her sisters, brothers and in-laws: Ida, Donald (Bev), Gerald (Bev) and Marie (Ken), sisters in-law Irene Rathwell, Kathy Rathwell and Donna Faught.
Predeceased by her brothers, John, Jim, Lacy, Andrew, Leo and Felix, and sisters, Marion and Nellie.
She was treasured by her many nieces and nephews, close friends, and her Thursday night euchre and Tuesday afternoon euchre ladies. Beatrice was close to her faith, worked hard and lived her life to the fullest. She was a loyal Bell Canada Operator and Supervisor and retired in 1991 with a combined 31 years of service in the Cobden and Renfrew offices. She was an active member of the Club 51 Seniors Club and served on the Executive for many years. She lived by: “No matter how you feel, get up, dress up, show up, and never give up.”
A very special thank you to Dr. MacDonald, Jessica and Dr. Di Paola who were there for Mom when she needed them the most, and especially grateful for the wonderful Hospice Renfrew staff and volunteers (too many to name but you know who you are) who brought such loving comfort and care to her in her last weeks.
Professional arrangements entrusted to Zohr Family Funeral Home, Renfrew. Visitation took place on Wednesday, July 19th from 2 -4 pm and 7 -9 pm. A funeral was held at Trinity St. Andrew’s United Church in Renfrew on Thursday, July 20th at 10:30 am followed by a reception. Interment to follow at the Cobden Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Renfrew so others can continue to receive the same wonderful end of life care or The Ottawa Mission who Beatrice supported since the age of 19 would be appreciated. Tributes, condolences and donations may be made online at www.zohrfuneralhome.com
