Passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Friday, September 22, 2023 at the age of 80 years.

He was best friend and loving husband of Rhonda Mittag (Verch). Dearly loved father of Darlene Desjardins, Laura Lee Schofield (Andrew), and Christian Mittag (Crystal). Devoted papa of Travis, Tyler, Marshal, and Mallory Desjardins, Hillary Panke (Mittag), Hildi and Cohen Mittag. Step papa to Gregory and Bradley Schofield, and Maddison Van Raalte. Great papa to Madelyn, Archer, and Adler Panke. Step great papa to Mason and Charlotte Schofield. Erich is survived by his sisters, Elma Smith (Lornie, deceased), and Ida Kolesnyk (John, deceased). He was the son of the late Robert and Rosalie Mittag (Hartwig). Erich is predeceased by his brothers, Ewald, Erwin (Judy), Albert (Jane), Otto (Rita, deceased). Erich was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed by all his family and friends.

Friends and family are welcome to visitation held at Zohr Family Funeral Home, Eganville on Thursday, September the 28, 2023 from 2 – 4 pm and 7 – 9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Augsburg on Friday afternoon at 2 pm.
