On September 11, 2022 George Albert Wilcox peacefully passed away with his family by his side at the age of 82.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Sheila of 31 years. His children Jeff Wilcox (Joan Marie), Tammy Kraushaar (Dan) and April Levasseur (Daniel).Step children Beth Norland (Jay), Sandra Godfrey (Mike Corbett), Heather Godfrey and Jimmy Godfrey(Marla). Grandchildren Kelsey DiSesa (Verdi), Emily Wilcox (Cody), Macauley Wilcox (Abby), Alyssa Hayes (Simon), Brittany Kraushaar (Zach), Caitlyn Friesen (Alex), Alexandra Levasseur (Matt), Zacharie Levasseur (Kathleen), Mathieu Levasseur (Mackenzie), Blair Godfrey, Kara Godfrey, Jake Godfrey, Chanel Godfrey and Savana Godfrey. Great grandchildren Georgia DiSesa and Rosie Wilcox.

George was predeceased by his loving wife Elizabeth (Green) of 28 years, his parents John and Theresa (Stephaniak) and his sister Margaret Lett. Brother and sister-in laws Ron Gravelle, Keitha and Willis Freitag, Bev Hebb, Jim Sterling and nephew David Lett. He is survived by his sister Doreen Gravelle (Rod Billet) and brother Garwood Wilcox (Betty), as well as brother and sister-in-laws Tom and Delores Green, David Sterling and Mary Sterling and Wade Hebb. Remembered with love by many nieces and nephews as well as many close friends.

George was born in Kirkland Lake Ontario. He grew up in Eganville Ontario and had many entrepreneurial adventures including barbering and onto owning a dry cleaning business. He was known as one of Renfrew County’s most successful businessmen. His business started in Eganville as George’s Service Centre. It was expanded by his son Jeff to include new locations in Ottawa and Kingston Ontario.

He was devoted to his church and community. He had many passions, including car restoration, boating and fishing, home renos, landscaping, card games and the love of golf. He loved a good laugh and will be missed by many good friends. George’s three top commandments for business and life were: 1. A smile will go a long way, 2. Honesty, and 3. A positive attitude.

Visitations will take place at Zohr Family Funeral Home, Eganville on Thursday, September 15 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm, and on Friday, September 16 from 9:30-10:30am. Funeral at St John’s Anglican Church at 11am. Internment at St. John’s Anglican Cemetery followed by a luncheon.
