It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Gerrit “Gerry” de Boer on January 5, 2024 at the Renfrew Victoria Hospital in his 91st year.

Beloved husband to Alice de Boer of 70 years. Much loved father of Hennie Clemmer (Ken), John de Boer (Marj), Harry de Boer (Janet), Eddie de Boer (Luc), Janette Freeman (Art), Jerry de Boer (Laurie), Allan de Boer (Yvonne), Hank de Boer (Cynthia) and Murray de Boer (Lesley). Proud grandfather of Sherry Lynn Hanniman (Trevor), Lori Kewley (Bart), Tammy Stokes (Trevor), Terry Clemmer (Lara), Tracy Legris (Jason), Trevor Clemmer (Sabrina), Michelle Charron (Jason), Chantel Clemmer (Larry), Charmaine Hoelscher (Jeff), Eric de Boer (Jennifer), Shawn de Boer (Samantha), Nicole de Boer, Anthony Freeman (Erin), Jason Freeman (Laura), Jeremy de Boer (Kayla), Jacqueline Gauvreau, Mike de Boer (Stephanie), Jacob de Boer (Katie), Seth de Boer (Courtney), Jessica Moore (Kyle), Lucas de Boer, Kera Silverman (Drew), Kelsey de Boer (Mike) and Marissa de Boer. Gerry was also a great- grandfather to 47 and great great grandfather to three.

He is survived by his sister, Miny vanBlanken, his brothers, Thyse de Boer (Joke) and Hank de Boer (Mina), as well as his sisters-in-law, Grace de Boer, Hermien Jans and Tina Ottema (Gerry). Gerry is predeceased by his parents, Arend and Hendrikje de Boer, brother John, sister Gerry, brother-in-law Jan and great grandson, Brandon Hanniman. He is also predeceased by Alice’s parents, Jan and Egberdina Jans and brother-in-law Hendrik. He will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Professional arrangements entrusted to the care of Zohr Family Funeral Home, Renfrew where visitation was held on Monday, January 8, 2024 from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm. Visitation continued at the Whitewater Wesleyan Community Church in Cobden on Tuesday, January 9 from 10 to 11 am, followed by the Funeral Service at 11 am. Spring interment will be held at the Rosebank Cemetery.
