Gwyneth Annabel Olmstead (nee Helmer) passed very peacefully with her family by her side on June 6, 2025.

Beloved wife of 67 years to Murray Olmstead. Cherished mother of Rick (Connie), Bill (late Kathy), Randy (Angie) and Chris (Nikki). Much loved “Nanny” of Melissa (Chris Jarvis), Ryan, Allison (Nathan Wasmund), Kayla, the late Kyle, Andrew (Bri), Nicholas and Taylor. Great-grandmother of Quinn and Shaye Jarvis, Sutton and Farrah Wasmund, Jordyn Olmstead and Caiden Olmstead. Loved sister of Bill (Gerry) Helmer and Mary Cantelon. Predeceased by her parents, Bill and Florence (Linda) Helmer, sisters, Muriel Morrow and Linda Helmer. Lovingly remembered by her sisters-in-law, Alma Bond and Jean Taylor, brother-in-law, Lorne Olmstead, many nieces, nephews and close friends.

Gwen fiercely loved her family, both immediate and extended. She was very involved in church life at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian in Cobden. She loved to bake and was always on the hunt for new recipes and would share her treats with many people. Most renowned for her butter tarts, as well as her butterscotch and coconut cream pies.

Rest easy and peacefully now, Mom. We know you will always be looking down on us but no more worrying!

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 34 Pembroke St. (Hwy.17) Cobden, on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. followed by a luncheon in the church basement. Private family burial.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Pinnacle Cremation Services, Renfrew.
