On Wednesday, May 24, 2023 Irma Edith Brohart got her wings and went to walk with the angels. She passed away peacefully at the Peterborough Regional Health Center in her 93rd year.

Born in Brudenell on February 6, 1931, her dream was to get married and have children. She was the heart of her family’s lives.

Irma was deeply loved and respected for her gentle, kind, compassionate disposition and strong will for her beliefs and values. She is predeceased by her loving husband, Norman. Irma was the beautiful daughter of Samuel Schroeder and Edith Schroeder (Musclow).

She is the treasured mom of Linda Marshall, Ron Brohart, Karen Brohart and Beverly Rich (Darrell).

Irma was the cherished Grandmother of Brian Marshall (Cecilia), Wendy Marshall (Ryan), Joshua Brohart (Keitha), Jeremy Brohart, and Jessica Rich (Scott). She was Great Grandmother of Victoria Marshall, Ryan Marshall, Tyler Marshall, Kyrie Marshall, Ophelia Brohart, Landon Brohart, Brynley Rich Compeau and Lochlan Rich Compeau. She was also an endeared, proud Great Great Grandmother of Laya Marshall and Olivia Marshall. Irma is fondly remembered by her Godchild, Brian Brohart.

Held dear to Irma’s heart is her only remaining sister, Ruby Andrews of Stittsville, Ontario. She is predeceased by her brother, Basil Schroeder and sisters, Beatrice Carleton, Emily Zadow and June Charlebois. Lovingly remembered by many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Irma was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Germanicus, and Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Peterborough. She enjoyed many family gatherings and celebrations throughout her life and always took time for tea with friends. She also enjoyed travelling, bowling, cross-country skiing, golfing, smocking and quilting. Irma actively volunteered in schools and church. Her great faith gave her strength. She loved her family pets, Sully and Millie!
Irma’s family would like to especially thank the B4 staff and the Spiritual Care Team of the Peterborough Regional Health Center for their compassion and exceptional care.

The celebration of Irma’s life will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Germanicus, 1986 Lake Dore Road, Golden Lake, Ontario on Saturday, June 24th at 1:30 p.m. Reception to follow. If desired, condolences to Irma’s family can be expressed at www.Highlandparkfuneralcenter.com.

A formal tea party to honour Irma will also be held at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 463 Highland Road, Peterborough on Sunday, June 18th at 11:30 a.m. in the church basement.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Irma’s memory can be made to the Peterborough Regional Health Center Foundation directed to the B4 department.

Her family grieves her loss, but they take comfort knowing that Irma and Norman are in each other’s loving arms again.
