Irwin was born on February 27, 1932 to Charles Lett and Alice (Leech) Lett in Eganville. He passed away peacefully in the early hours of March 13, 2024 in the loving company of his wife, Marilyn Lett.

After graduating high school, Irwin began his mining career in Schefferville, Quebec. He moved to Englehart, Ontario and worked as a supervisor at the Adams Mine from 1963 to 1990. Throughout his working years he was known as a hard worker, a calm soul, a loving husband, father and grandfather and an involved member of his local curling and Rotary communities. After he retired, he attended Northern College for two years and he and Marilyn split their time between Wellington, Ontario and Clearwater, Florida. Irwin spent his retirement as an avid golfer and card player. He passed his final year in Amica Retirement residence in Brampton.

Irwin is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Marilyn (Mittlestead) Lett and his daughter, Debra (Ronald) Robinson. He leaves nine grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren, as well as two sisters, Beverly (Bryan) Sterling and Bonnie Diamond. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews and in-laws. Irwin is predeceased by his beloved sons, Lyle and David Lett; his granddaughter, Kristen Robinson; his brothers, Nelson Lett and Norman Lett; and his sisters, Barbara Hinsperger and Betty Marsh.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date, and Irwin will be laid to rest with his sons in Englehart, Ontario. Donations in Irwin’s memory may be made to the Rotary Club of Englehart. Irwin was a proud member and supporter of the Rotary for many years.
