“Jack” John Gordon Martin of Round Lake passed away peacefully on April 9, 2022 at Saint Francis Memorial Hospital at the age of 91. Jack is survived by his wife of 61 years, Judith Maude Martin (nee Poland), four adult sons, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
As a long serving military officer and Korean War veteran, Jack has family and good friends spread all over the world. His last military position was Commanding Officer of the Lanark and Renfrew Scottish Regiment in Pembroke from 1981 to 1984.
Famous for his ceremonial drill prowess and ability to tell a story, many who know him well will now be reflecting on Jack’s protocol efforts in the background supporting a Soviet delegation speaking engagement in the Canadian Parliament at the height of the cold war. Likewise, few will forget Jack’s lifelong relationship with his childhood friend, Jean Paul Bordeleaux, a very famous hunting guide from Jack’s native Northern Ontario.
