It is with heavy hearts, we share the peaceful passing of Joseph ‘Gerard’ Cuddy, at home surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, January 12, 2020, in his 91st year. Loving and cherished husband of Terry (Connolly) for almost 65 years.
He was predeceased by his parents, Bridget and Joseph Cuddy.
He leaves his loving family of Joan Ermelbauer (Carl), Calgary; Marion (Jeff Benson), Manotick; Dawna Cuddy, Ottawa; Karen Cuddy (Ron Muckenheim), Riverside, Ottawa; Colleen Cuddy (Paul Riddoch), Manotick and Bill Cuddy (Ana Tremblay), Ottawa.
Gerard will be remembered fondly by his grandchildren, Carl, Kiersten, Morgan, Julian, Benjamin, Christopher, Mackenzie, William, Chloe, Jonathan and Isabella. Gerrard will be missed greatly by sisters Marguerite Power (late Sylvester), Mary McMaster (Campbell), sisters-in-law Dawna Cuddy, Irene Connolly (Dan) and Mary Hayes (Lawrence). He was predeceased by his brother, Carl Cuddy.
Gerard, along with his wife Terry, farmed in Micksburg, Ontario from 1956 to 1991. At different times he served on the local Board of Education and as Drainage Superintendent for Stafford Township. An active member of the Renfrew County Cattlemen’s Association, he was named Cattleman of the Year in 1992. Along with Russell Leach and George McIntyre he was instrumental in modernizing the Micksburg softball field in the early 1970’s. Gerard coached the women’s softball team for a number of years and volunteered as an umpire for the Micksburg Recreation Association.
Friends shared their memories of Gerard with his family during visitation at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 296 Isabella Street, Pembroke on Friday, January 17 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 pm and after 9 am Saturday. A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, January 18th at 10:30 am, in The Church of The Most Holy Name of Jesus, Pembroke. Interment St. Columba’s Cemetery.
