Surrounded by the love of his family, Lawrence Kargus passed peacefully October 28, 2023 at St. Francis Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Quadeville the son of Wesley Kargus and Matilda(Tilly) Kargus(nee Kauffeldt). He was predeceased by his brother Willard , his sister Vivian and grandson Shannon. He is survived by his sister Phyllis and brothers Jimmy and Kevin.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of 69 years Mary (Muzzy) Kargus (nee Quade), his children, Marylynn (Alan), Glenn (Patricia), Richard (Kelly), Lisa(Dwight deceased), Cindy, Jeff (Debbie), his grandchildren Mandy (Rob), Maddison, Macy, Kristen, Braden (Jennifer), Kyle, Eleanor, Arthur, Ryan (Shannon), Melissa (Dawson), and great grandchildren Nolan, Connor, Joey, Troy, Lucas, Serena, Violet and Elouise.

Lawrence’s love for his family was foremost. He looked forward to and enjoyed every family gathering. He enjoyed the outdoors hunting, fishing, ATVing, snowmobiling and generally being in the nature around him. He had great skills in building two amazing homes for his family. He loved working with machines like his Landrover Defender and ‘Bren Gun Carrier’ snowplow. He was a valued employee of Smith’s Construction for many years.

The Kargus family would like to thank the doctors and staff of St. Francis Memorial Hospital for their kindness and excellent care provided to Lawrence and the family. Also, many thanks go to all the nurses and staff at Valley Manor for the superb care they provided.

A church service will be held at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, Schutt on Saturday, November 4 at 1 pm, followed by a luncheon for family and friends at the Quadeville Community Centre. Donations to the new Valley Manor Building Fund will be gratefully appreciated in lieu of flowers.
