It is with great sadness that Lorraine Mary Shires (Biernaskie) of Barry’s Bay has parted from our world. She was born on October 9th, 1966 and left this world unexpectedly May 23rd, 2023, in her 56th year.

Lorraine was predeceased by her parents, Elmer Biernaskie and Nora Biernaskie (Plebon), and foster parent, Judith Shires. Lorraine is survived by her sons, Clayton (Lisa Zatorski) and Curtis (Melissa Allen), along with her siblings: Sheron Hallam, Christine Wolfe (Cyril Wolfe), and Darren Biernaskie. Lorraine was also survived by her 6 grandsons: Clarence, Henry, Patrick, Karlsson, Hudson and Benson along with nieces and nephews.

Lorraine loved hearing her grandsons voices and getting the chance to talk with them. She asked about school, their favourite activities and things that they have done recently. She especially loved when she got to spend time with them in person either when she came out to Alberta or when we went to Ontario. When the grand-babies weren’t around she had the company of her cat Simon who she talked very fondly of, and some close friends.

Lorraine hated the winter months as she was always cold but when the weather warmed up she enjoyed life even more. Her favorite activities included taking strolls through the local parks around where she lived in Ottawa, Ontario. She also had her garden boxes on her balcony in which she would plant a small garden for herself.

Lorraine ended up with some great foster parents, Clarence and Judy Shires. They set her on the right path in life and with that she graduated with her Personal Support Worker diploma.

As per Lorraine’s wish cremation has already taken place, however Prayers of comfort for the family are always welcomed.
