Whitney, Ontario
January 15, 1933 – February 1, 2022

While a great sadness has washed over our hearts today, we will always be grateful for the cherished time that had been given to us. In the late afternoon on Tuesday, February 1st, 2022 at the age of 89, Phyllis Martin (Getz) passed away peacefully at Marianhill Long Term Care Facility in Pembroke. Beloved wife of the late Donald Martin (1977) of Whitney and dear friend of the late Morton (Toad) Perry (2021) of Whitney.

Phyllis gave 100% to everything she did, being a loving mom and grandmother, a hairdresser for more than 40 years and continuing her late husband’s family business of school bus owner and operator until 2000. Phyllis loved many things in life, especially time spent with her grandchildren. When at home, if Phyllis couldn’t be found you never had to look too far, all her free time was spent cultivating the many beautiful flower gardens surrounding her house in which she took great pride. Besides her passion for gardening, she loved the outdoors, walking, cross country skiing, and bird watching. Some of our fondest family memories include the ventures with her to Winterlude in Ottawa, skating the canal, seeing the ice sculptures, having a giggle or two and then ending our day with a Beavertail.

Phyllis was the beloved daughter of the late Ezra Getz and Ethel (Pauhl) Getz of Renfrew. Survived by her sister, Beverley Marriner (late, Len) of Brockville. The loving mother of Jeffrey Martin (Rose-Marie) of Kemptville, John Martin of Whitney, Suzanne Fuller (Allen) of Whitney, and Peter Martin (Lisa) of Whitney. Phyllis was the loving and nurturing grandmother to her grandchildren, Andrea, Jason, Krystal, Corey, Michael, Kelsey, Ashalynn and great-grandchildren, Jayden, Wyatt, Hoxton, Kayden, Kasey, Annaleigha, Renn, Aiden and Asher. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Cremation has already taken place at Ottawa Crematorium Services.
A celebration of Phyllis’s life will take place in the spring. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Alzheimer Society of Canada would be appreciated by the family

We hold you close within our hearts, and there you will remain;
To walk with us throughout our lives, until we meet again.
