Priest of the Diocese of Pembroke
Peacefully at the Pembroke Regional Hospital, on Friday, July 28th, 2023, surrounded by family and fortified by the Sacraments of the Church, in his 82nd year and 55th year of priesthood.
Son of the late Harry and Lila Neville (nee Clouthier). Dear brother of Harry Jr. (the late Fay) Neville, the late Harriett (Roland) Gagnon, Lorne (the late Theresa) Neville, Lianne (Bruce) Clark, Maureen (Billy) Belland, Kathy (Dave) Neville and Paul Neville. Sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and a great-great-niece.
Born in Pembroke on March 8th, 1942, Father Neville received his education and call to the priesthood in the midst of his family’s membership in Holy Name of Jesus Parish, Pembroke. Following his formation and studies at Resurrection College, Kitchener and St. Augustine Seminary, Toronto, Father Neville was ordained to the priesthood on May 24, 1969. As an assistant priest, Father Neville served in the parishes of Bancroft, Haliburton, Arnprior and Deep River. Father Neville served as pastor of St. Ann’s Parish, Cormac; Our Lady of the Angels Parish, Brudenell; Holy Canadian Martyrs Parish, Combermere; St. Francis de Sales Mission, Latchford Bridge; and St. Andrew’s Parish in Killaloe. In addition to parish ministry, Father Neville served as chaplain to Bishop Smith Catholic High School in Pembroke. He was an instrumental and managing member of the Flying Father’s Hockey Team for 25 years. Father Neville retired from parish ministry in 2014.
Rite of Reception at the Church of the Most Holy Name of Jesus, Pembroke, on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at 2:00 p.m., with visitation continuing until 8 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by the Most Reverend Guy Desrochers, C.Ss.R. at the Church of the Most Holy Name of Jesus, Pembroke, on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at 11 a.m. Rite of committal to follow in the family plot at St. Columba’s Cemetery.
