COE, Richard (Dick) Charles at age 90, of Stratford, joined the love of his life, Marie (nee Smith), on Friday, March 22, 2019, with his loving family and the wonderful staff of Marianhill Nursing Home at his side.

Dick dedicated 27 years of service to the Stratford Police Dept., retiring a Sergeant in 1987.  Dick was a committed member of the Stratford Concert band, retiring his Euphonium after 50+ years of service. Beloved husband of 69 years of the late Marie Coe (nee Smith). Loving father of John Coe (Diane Veilleux) of Killaloe. Cherished grandfather of Amber (Corey) Costello of Cobden and Alissa Coe (Matias Silva) of Italy and three great-grandchildren Danielle Swant, Nolan and Lena Costello. Brother-in-law to Thomas (Linda) Smith, Ruth Steinman, Geraldine Jury, Lois Smith, and sister-in-law Bonnie Smith. Predeceased by his parents, William and Hazel Coe (nee Davey), two brothers William and Percy Coe and four sisters Viola Drane, Betty Farr, Helen Page, and Kathleen Coe; Brother-in-law Robert Smith and sister-in-law Fern Gravelle. Dick is also remembered fondly by special nephew and niece Michael (Janice) Gravelle, and numerous nieces and nephews. Respecting Dick’s request cremation has taken place. A Service will be held at St. Stephens Anglican Church, 133 Home St., Stratford on Saturday, May 4 at, 10:00 am, followed by the interment for both Dick and Marie at Avon cemetery.  We will celebrate the lives of Dick and Marie with a luncheon following interment at St. Stephen’s Church.

Dick’s family would like to send a most sincere thank you to all of the staff at Marianhill Nursing Home for their exemplary care of both Dick and Marie over the past three years. In memoriam donations to Marianhill Nursing Home, Resident Care Fund, would be gratefully appreciated. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Valley Funeral Home, Deep River.
