It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Ron Nelson, in his 80th year, on March 26, 2023, peacefully in his home with his family by his side. Ron was predeceased by his wife, Doris.

He will be dearly missed by his son, Ronnie Jr. (Bridgette) and his daughter, Debbie (Suzanne) as well as his granddaughter, Kaila (Dave) and his great-grandchildren, Ben, Levi and his dog “Bo”.

Ron is survived by his sister, Lynne Monaghan (Garry), his sister-in-law, Ester (late Gary Nelson), his nieces and nephews, Jackie (Chris), Janet (Steve), Clint (Stacy) and Duffy (Linda) as well as his great nephews, Dmitry and Jack and his great niece, Madie.

Ron was a well respected Businessman in the grocery industry in Ottawa and Eganville. Poppa Ron’s Discount Store was his final accomplishment with his son Ronnie. Also known for his commitment to his community, Ron contributed by way of many fundraising events. Ron was an avid hockey fan and he loved antique cars and trucks.

Professional arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Zohr Family Funeral Home, Eganville and in keeping with Ron’s wishes cremation has taken place.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Pembroke Regional Hospital, the Renfrew Victoria Hospital, the Ottawa General, the Queensway Carlton, the OPP, Paramedics, Bayshore Homecare and Dr. Petrini for all the help and service provided in the care of Ron during his final journey. We are grateful for the ongoing support from Ann, Sandy and Monica from Papa Ron’s Discount Store and the people of Eganville and the surrounding area.
