January 10, 1933 – October 4, 2023

Sheila Esther Gibson (née Tambeau) of Renfrew, passed away suddenly at Groves Park Nursing Home, Renfrew, October 4, 2023 in her 91st year.

Born on January 10, 1933 in Renfrew, Ontario, she was the youngest daughter of three children of Emile and Annie (née Carswell) Tambeau. From her one room schoolhouse on Thomson Hill to her graduation in Renfrew, Sheila immediately went to work for Stewart Hartshorn in Renfrew until starting a family in 1957.

She married Basil Gibson, August 6, 1955 and they went on to have five children: Don Gibson, Vern Gibson (Rosemary), Sandra Sorbara (Ralph), Lloyd Gibson (Lori) and Murray Gibson (Joanne). She was a beloved Grandma to 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Sheila was always there supporting her husband as they were transferred throughout the province working for Ontario Hydro.

Sheila and Basil loved to spend time with family and great friends and their passion was playing music and being with people as well as playing cards. She was always around the house whistling to one tune or another.

Sheila was an avid member of the United Church and the Orange Lodge.

Friends and family are welcome to Zohr Family Funeral Home, Renfrew, where visitation was held on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 from 1 – 3:00 pm and 6 – 8:00 pm. A short visitation was held on Wednesday from 12 noon until time of service in the Zohr Family Chapel at 1 pm.
