In Loving Memory of Terry Behnke

After a hard-fought battle with lung disease, Terry Behnke of Petawawa has passed away peacefully at the age of 81 with his beloved family by his side.

Terry was a cherished husband to Marg (Dougherty), a loving father to Pamela (Jonathan Hewett of New Zealand) and Todd (Shauna Perry). He was a proud Poppa to Ty and Quinn Van Hoof; Jack and Nate Behnke; Autumn, Oakley and Daisy Hewett.

Born to the late Edith and Herbert Behnke, Terry was a dear brother to Sandra (Murray Sell), Carol (late Terry Howard), and Dickson (Joanne). He was a beloved nephew to Beverly Oelke and brother-in-law to Eleanor (late Marvin McLaughlin), Bethea (Ralph Little), Robert Dougherty, and Lynn Hawthorne. He is predeceased by family members, Edith Simpson, Evelyn Dougherty, Faye Anderson, and Ronald Dougherty (Lynn). Terry was also an adopted “big” brother to the Green Family of Petawawa, whom he loved dearly.

As a Godfather, he greatly touched the lives of Jeannie, Justin, and Joshua Behnke. Terry was a favourite uncle to many nieces and nephews, a valued cousin, and a loyal friend to many. He will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, his passion for hunting and fishing, his community contributions, his selfless acts of kindness, and his tireless sense of humour to the very end.

A Celebration of Life will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church on Black Bay Road in Petawawa on Thursday, October 10th , 2024 at 11 am. All arrangements have been entrusted to the Murphy Funeral Home, Pembroke.
