It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, Veronica O’Reilly (nee Shields) on June 1, 2025 at Madawaska Valley Hospice in Barry’s Bay at the age of 87.

She was the beloved wife of Thomas O’Reilly (deceased in 2016). She was the loving mother of Linda (Louie), Kevin (Mary Ellen), Neil (Connie), Elaine (Garnet), Teresa (Garry), Marilyn, Marion (Irvin), Connie (Dennis), Sharlene (Gary). She was an adoring grandmother and great-grandmother to her 19 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Veronica was a thoughtful woman of quiet wisdom. A devoted and loving mother to nine children, whose lives she shaped with grace, strength, and unwavering faith. She dedicated her life to her family and was the heart of our home – always greeting everyone with a warm smile and welcoming heart. Her legacy lives on in the values she instilled in her children.

Thank you to Father Burchat for officiating the beautiful funeral service on June 4, 2025 at Our Lady of the Angels Church in Brudenell and also to Father Beanish and Father O’Malley for sharing in the celebration. The choir did an amazing job and the ladies of the parish provided a delicious lunch following the service for which we are very grateful.

We were touched and overwhelmed by the love, support and attendance of relatives, friends and neighbours. It is beautiful when a community pulls together and shows support and kindness. Our hearts were filled with warmth and appreciation. Thank you to all who sent cards, flowers, masses, donations and food to the house – your generosity and thoughtfulness will be remembered.

We are eternally grateful to both St. Francis Memorial Hospital and the MV Hospice team for treating our mother with utmost compassion and respect. We quickly learned that both the hospice facility and their team are a true blessing to families experiencing end of life of a loved one.

Thank you also to the Heubner Funeral Home for your care and compassion and for assisting us through this difficult time.

Veronica will be dearly missed and her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
