Norma Ruth Goodfellow (Finnigan)

208

Passed away peacefully in the evening of Friday, November 17, 2023 in her 95th year. She was surrounded by her loving and devoted daughters. Her wish was to remain in her home, and it was our privilege to give her that gift.

She was born in 1929 and raised in Ottawa where she graduated from Lisgar Collegiate. She enjoyed being part of the girl’s hockey team, skiing, skating and later in life, curling. She obtained her Nursing Diploma, with Honours, from the Victoria Hospital School of Nursing, Renfrew, in 1953.

Adored mother of Ruth (Michael Walsh), Margaret (Garry Dubeau) and Jane (Scott Spooner), all of Renfrew. Cherished grandmother (GG) of Courtney Walsh (Ryan Simmons), Brittany Coe (Mike), Natalie Dubeau (Geoff Blain), Nichole Dubeau (Shae Mulvihill), and Lydia and Eleanor Spooner. Proud great grandmother of Sawyer and Lincoln Coe and James and Scarlett Blain.

Predeceased by her parents, Frank Finnigan Sr. and Maye Horner, by her sister, Joan MacKenzie (Grant), and by her brothers, John and Ross Finnigan. Survived by her brother, Frank Jr., and his wife, Marie. She will be affectionately remembered by several nieces, nephews, and friends, in fact by all who knew her.

Mom was a strong woman with boundless energy. She was generous, caring and full of love and life. She was quick with a joke or a quirky quote, usually accompanied by a wink of her eye and a mischievous smile. She loved animals, birds, the outdoors and nature in all its forms. She loved her farm and her beautiful horses and was very proud of her German Shorthaired Pointers that she bred, raised and showed. She also loved her cottage at Sand Bay, Quebec, and boating on the Ottawa River.

A special thank you to everyone who has provided such excellent care and compassion to Mom over the years.

In lieu of flowers donations to Renfrew and Area Seniors’ Home Support or Hospice Renfrew, would be greatly appreciated. A Celebration of Life will follow at a later date.
